Orbel precision photo chemically etches or mills parts from 24" wide to 72" long.
The factory is designed to handle prototype through volume production and uses the latest manufacturing techniques to provide consistent products for demanding applications. Orbel uses a combination of 20" & 30" wide etching lines to assure the best equipment is assigned to your application. One side, two side and step etching are all processed on a daily basis.
Orbel offers quick turnaround for prototyping needs including the soft tooling required to make a part. Our in-house electroplating offers quick turnaround and one source responsibility for your chemical milled parts that require electroplating.
The process of Photo Chemical Milling involves the metal being coated with a photo resist and exposed to a controlled UV light source. This will leave an image identical to the tooling (artwork) on the resist. The material is then developed and the unexposed areas are stripped away leaving the bare metal to be etched away on an automatic etch line.
Chemical Milled Components
Depending on what further processing is to be done, parts can be made as individual "drop-outs" or can be left suspended in sheet form by tabs.
Advantages of Chemical Milling
The Photo Chemical Milling process can be performed on practically any type of metal. It is especially suited to thin foils where dimensional tolerances are required.
- No stress of work hardening
- Photo tooling costs much less and can be easily changed
- Faster turnaround
- No burrs or tooling wear
- Intricate shapes are produced much faster
